New South Wales National Parks

New South Wales is one of the most environmentally diverse corners of the world. Rainforests, deserts, mangrove swamps, eucalypt forests, alpine herb fields, coastal heaths, grasslands - you can find these and many other landscapes across this Australian state.

There are over 600 parks and reserves in NSW, covering more than seven per cent of the state. They range from massive wilderness areas to tiny historic sites

National parks, and other conservation reserves, exist to protect this extraordinary natural diversity.

They're also centres of cultural heritage, both for the Aboriginal people who have occupied this land for more than 40,000 years, and for the generations of immigrants who have arrived since colonization in 1788.
